A Sea of Plastic

Postcards
14,8 cm x 10,5 cm, 4 models.

For this project I experimented with the letterpress printing technique. Each postcard was individually printed in the letterpress workshop of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. The theme of the project was the plastic pollution in the oceans around the world. The idea was to use objects made out of the most ocean polluting plastic kinds to print the background of the cards. Blue ink was used to give the print a water-like texture while maintaining the materiality of each plastic object visible. The names of the used plastic types were printed with black ink on top. My aim was to make people aware of the different types of plastics that exist, recycling and the importance of reducing the consume of plastic.
